Department of Education is proud to present an ​exciting 16-week Film Academy for high school ​students at Ivanna Eudora Kean and Charlotte Amalie ​High Schools. This comprehensive program is ​designed to inspire and educate the next generation ​of filmmakers, offering hands-on experience in every ​aspect of the filmmaking process

Over the course of 32 sessions, students will ​dive into the world of cinema, exploring ​everything from scriptwriting and storyboarding ​to directing, cinematography, and editing. Our ​experienced instructors will guide participants ​through the creation of their very own short ​films, providing industry-standard equipment ​and software to bring their visions to life

The Film Academy isn't just about ​technical skills – it's about storytelling, ​creativity, and collaboration. Students ​will work in teams, learning to ​communicate ideas effectively, problem-​solve on set, and bring out the best in ​each other's talents. These skills will serve ​them well, whether they pursue a career ​in film or apply their newfound knowledge ​to other creative endeavors.

Throughout the program, students will have the opportunity to ​interact with industry professionals, gaining invaluable insights ​into the world of filmmaking. From understanding the business ​side of the industry to exploring various career paths, the Film ​Academy aims to provide a well-rounded education that goes ​beyond the classroom.


As the program culminates, students will showcase their final ​projects in a special screening event, celebrating their hard work ​and newfound skills with family, friends, and the community. ​This Film Academy is more than just a class – it's a chance for ​young Virgin Islanders to find their voice, tell their stories, and ​potentially launch the beginnings of exciting careers in the ​dynamic world of film and media.
